Kamryn Marie is preparing to release her next single “Better Than OK”. She has been interviewed for Never Coming Home’s first guest post by Whitney Asher.
Meet Kamryn Marie, an up-and-coming electro-pop artist who is unafraid to celebrate life’s good, and sometimes challenging, moments. Her latest single, “Better Than OK,” offers listeners permission to move on from things in life that are just not good for them.
Kamryn Marie’s debut album, As Is, was released earlier this year, setting the stage for listeners to fearlessly speak their mind on matters of life, love and everything in between.
In preparation for her single premiere of “Better Than OK,” we connected with Kamryn Marie for some insight around her latest track – be sure to check it out!
What is the inspiration behind this song?
After a really rough breakup with my fiancé of 3 years, it took me a long time to move forward. This song is tribute to the ability to say that I have moved on and I am doing “better than ok”.
Tell us more about your writing process around this song – was it an idea, a poem or a lyric/melody first?
This song was actually written pretty quickly. I was sitting in my office and my brain randomly started thinking about the fact that my panic attacks and thoughts about my ex were significantly reduced. Instead of feeling sad or angry when thinking about him, I began feeling relieved. Relieved that I knew I had dodged a really terrible bullet. Relieved that my mind had stopped constantly reminding me of all of the terrible things he had done. I was relieved that I can now focus on my present self and relationships. Relieved that he is out of my life for good.
What is your hope for the song and those who will hear it?
I know I am not the only one that has gone through this, so my hope is for this song to reach others dealing with something similar and show them that feelings are ok. At some point, you need to realize that what happened was good and that keeping yourself surrounded with positivity can help you to achieve much greater things. Also, it is important for everyone to know that they must not settle for anything less than they deserve.
